OKLAHOMA VETERANS PROJECT
The Oklahoma Veteran's Project's mission is, "Restoring Veterans & Their Families". One of the ways in which we intend to fulfill this mission is through using "Tiny Homes". Veterans and transitioning service members will receive housing assistance through one of our tiny house communities. This will allow the veteran to concentrate on overcoming various obstacles; returning to pursuing their version of the American dream!
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Zack Giffin and Operation Tiny Home to bring their Tiny Home workshop to Tulsa. This will begin our tiny house community that serves veterans and transitioning servicemembers that are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. The workshop will be held this July in Tulsa, OK. The workshop is primarily for veterans but others with interests in helping veterans are welcome. The workshop is free and sign-ups will be available here and on social media once the final dates are confirmed. If you're interested in learning more, please click the links above or below. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you there.
Tiny homes offer unique and exciting opportunities for those that are experiencing economic hardship and homelessness. They are much less expensive to build and maintain than traditional transitional housing. Further, they offer us the ability to build as we grow and begin helping people immediately rather than waiting for large, long-term capital campaigns in order to offer assistance.
Although the tiny homes are less expensive than other housing options, we do have to raise money to build and maintain the homes, as well as offer assistance with utilities and other needs veterans and their families have when they begin their restored lives.
